A native Philadelphian, Rachael's performing career began at an early age, winning young artist competitions and soloing with several orchestras in the Greater Philadelphia area. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Music from Temple University's Esther Boyer College of Music in Philadelphia and a Master of Music from DePaul University School of Music in Chicago on a full performance-based scholarship. Her primary teachers include Kelly McDermott, Kazuo Tokito, and Mary Stolper. Rachael recently moved to Washington, D.C. with her husband, David Agee, the recently appointed drummer in the U.S. Navy Sea Chanters. In November, she performed the Loudoun Lyric Opera's production of Madame Butterfly, and is a member of the Columbia Flute Choir, which recently performed holiday music at the White House. Prior to moving, Rachael lived in Chicago for 10 years where she served as principal flute in Northbrook Symphony. Additionally, she performed at weddings and private events with her flute, viola and harp trio, Tria. Rachael has also performed with Fulcrum New Music Project, City Lights Orchestra, Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, Oistrakh Symphony, and as a reoccuring artist on the New Music DePaul concert series. Rachael has performed in master classes and studied privately with Marzio Conti, Kenneth Andrews, Robert Dick, Michel Debost, Mary Boodell and Les Rotteges. Summer festival appearances include the Eastern Music Festival, Wildacres Flute Retreat, and the Oberlin Flute Institute. As a member of DePaul University's Graduate Woodwind Quintet Rachael was a semi-finalist in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. She can be heard playing flute and piccolo with the Philadelphia Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra performing the works of George Antheil on the New World Records label.
